James Garber

jim.jpg (3546 bytes)Capturing truly distinctive portraits requires a talented photographer with the eye of an artist. Years of study and practice are then needed to refine this talent. James Garber has the talent and has acquired this refinement. That is what makes a Garber portrait a work of art.

James Garber began his photographic career in 1966 after eight years as a high school band and choral director. He rapidly became known as the leading wedding photographer in the Richmond, VA, area and earned both state and national awards for his photography. In 1975 James Garber switched entirely to commercial photography for family reasons. During this time he worked for such national and international companies as Reynolds Metals, Rubbermaid, Stihl (chainsaws), Volvo and Miller-Morton (ChapStick, and Seargent's Pet Products).

In 1993, James Garber moved to Brazil, IN, where he and his wife, Linda, opened a portrait and wedding studio. Since that time he has continued to garner top awards in state, regional, and national competitions. In 2001, he earned the distinction of being in the top 10 photographers of the Mid-East region (Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Indiana), and has earned a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designation from the Professional Photographers of America.

A photographic portrait is an investment that will be enjoyed by both you and your family for many years to come. Over the years we have found that often the most striking portraits are those that are simple in design. For that reason we strive for elegant posing and pleasing lighting which allows maximum attention to be focused on the character of the subject. Let us create a family treasure for you. A portrait by Garber is not expensive, it is priceless!
